In the coming weeks we’ll introduce you to one of our valued team members. This Monday we’ll introduce you to Storage Specialist Pieter Visser.
Grab some coffee, relax and get to Pieter and what his job entails. He does have over 40 years of experience after all!
1. Storage Specialist… What exactly is your role?
My role at Red Carpet is Storage Specialist on Hitachi Storage systems: from the midrange system till the high-end systems. As well the SAN switches which connect the Storage to the servers, regarding Brocade as Cisco switches.
2. What is your background
I gained my knowledge in a career of 42 years in the IT business. The first years as an engineer and later as a storage consultant. During these years I have been able to support several multinationals globally.
3. What activities give you the most energy?
I get the most energy from satisfied customers, when the systems work the way they are meant to work 24/7. So that the customer can continue to run their business, and they can rely on robust storage systems.
4. Where do you see opportunities and challenges in this role?
The challenges I see are to keep the data growth manageable and stay ahead of hacker attacks.
5. What do you like to do in your spare time?
Spending time with family. And during summertime I do like some cycling, and in wintertime I do like some skiing.
